The Association for Business Simulation and Experiential Learning (ABSEL) is an organization for academics and professionals that develop and promote innovative and effective teaching methods in the disciplines of business, management, and related fields. Both novices and experts in the design, use and research of simulations, games, and experiential techniques are welcome. Members meet at ABSEL’s annual conference to exchange information and network with colleagues working in related areas. ABSEL is both interdisciplinary and global in scope, with ties to many other organizations interested in experiential learning.  ABSEL sponsors two blind-peer-reviewed publications: Simulation & Gaming: An International Journal of Theory, Design and Research and Developments in Business Simulation & Experiential Exercises.

The main goals of ABSEL are:

  • to enhance the development and application of business simulations and experiential methodologies
  • to encourage a wider use of simulations and experiential methodologies, particularly in effective business education
  • to augment techniques used for the assessment of education and the development of learning theory
  • to facilitate communication on a global scale among specialists designing and using business simulations and experiential methodologies.
